1970s
1973

Established as a business in 1973. The company, named Mercury Hi-Performance at the time, was based at 20 Wisconsin Street, on the Fox River, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The main focus of the business was to promote Mercury Marine products through racing.

1977

Mercury Hi-Performance manufacturing, sales and engineering facility moved in September, 1977 to 2521 Bowen Street, Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

1990s
1990

Brunswick Corporation acquires Kiekhaefer Aeromarine, Inc., July 20, 1990. KAM produced quality marine propulsion products including the Kiekhaefer sterndrive, K-Plane trim tabs, Zero Effort controls, trim indicators and propellers.

1992

Mercury Hi-Performance declared an independent business unit of Mercury Marine in 1992.

1992

Named changed to Brunswick Marine Hi-Performance in 1992.

1992

Propeller manufacturing team moves from Plant 38 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin into a new building on the grounds of Plant 36 - the former Kiekhaefer Aeromarine, Inc., facility in August, 1992.

1993

Named changed back to Mercury Hi-Performance in 1993.

1993

Ground was broken for a 32,000 square foot expansion of Plant 36 on November 29, 1993.

1994

Expanded Plant 36 facility fully operational in December, 1994.

2000s
2003

Mercury Racing releases the OptiMax 250XS and puts it i the record base boat kilo speed record books as the worlds fastest low-emissions outboard

2004

Mercury Racing recaptures the big block high perfofmance sterndrive market with the release of the 1075 SCi - known for its smooth running - mild docking manners and pure brute power throughout the RPM operating range.

Mercury announces plans to develop a new test facility in Panama City, Florida, thereby closing the long-standing Lake X complex.

2005

The 850 SCi - younger brother to the Mild Mannered Monster - is released.

The X-Site research-and-development facility opens on Watson Bayou in Panama City, Florida.

2006

The world's most powerful low-emissions 2-stroke arrives - the OptiMax 300XS.

2007

The EU662 SCi is released and joins the 600 SCi in being certified for sale in the European Union. The 662 SCi is the most powerful gas sterndrive engine to meet the strict European Union Recreational Craft Directive(RCD) exhaust emissions standards.

The 1200 SCi, the most powerful consumer sterndrive ever produced by Mercury Racing - is released.

2008

Mercury Racing enters the four stroke outboard marketing with the introduction of the Verado 350 SCi high performance consumer outboard and the 60 EFI FormulaRace outboard.

The Mercury Racing sterndrive X-haust noise reduction system enables boats equipped with the 600 SCi EU662 Sci to be fully compliant with the EU RCD exhaust and noise emissions standards.
