OptiMax Powers Merleau to SST 120 World Championship


(FOND DU LAC, Wis., July 29, 2010) - Jimmie Merleau of Fennville, Mich., was crowned the 2010 SST 120 World Champion after winning three out of four heats of racing at the PNC Trenton Rotary Roar on the River Sunday, July 25, on the Detroit River in Trenton, Mich.

Mercury OptiMax 200XS SST race outboards powered three of the top five finishers. Fellow OptiMax powered competitor Dan Orchard of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, placed second. Bill May of Tallahassee, Fla., driving a Mercury SST 120 race outboard powered hull, placed third. Donny Lick of Hastings, Minn., placed fourth in his OptiMax 200XS SST race outboard powered hull. Norwegian Rick Haakonsen, driving a Mercury SST 120 race outboard powered hull, rounded out fifth.
