Mercury innovations excite Miami Boat Show crowd

Mercury engines owned the spotlight at the 2019 Miami International Boat Show (Feb. 14-18) with a staggering 647 Mercury outboards displayed in booths and rigged on demo boats at the docks. High-horsepower Mercury outboards – including the new supercharged 400hp Verado and the V6 and V8 outboards introduced in 2018 – dominated the all-world boat show. The 400hp Verado – the new horsepower leader in the Mercury outboard lineup – grew from the proven and ultra-successful 2.6-liter supercharged Inline six-cylinder 350hp Verado introduced in 2015. The new 400hp Verado delivers the same attention-grabbing acceleration, top speed and smooth-and-quiet driving experience that made Verado famous, while still boasting low weight (nearly 300 pounds lighter than the leading competitors’ outboards in this class!), superior reliability and trustworthy durability.

Additional Mercury products introduced in Miami:

  • Mercury Racing’s new 1100 Competition is the exclusive stock engine for the APBA Offshore Championship 1100 catamaran racing class. The 9.0-liter twin turbocharged engine delivers 1,100hp at 6500 rpm on 89‑octane (95 RON) pump fuel.
  • Mercury electronic controls for five- and six-engine boats accommodate the growing class of larger vessels with multi-outboard configurations. The new, fully featured system includes Mercury’s Joystick Piloting technology, digital throttle and shift (DTS) controls, automatic heading and route settings. Mercury’s Active Trim is available as well.
  • A versatile and thrifty 5hp Propane FourStroke outboard delivers no‑hassle portability, reliability and convenience on alternative clean‑burning fuel — whether it’s powering aluminum boats, inflatables or sailboats. It runs on the same propane — using the same propane tanks and fittings — as a standard propane outdoor grill.
